An exercise in tonality, texture and repetition. A minimalist exploration of the structures humanity creates to its own detriment.

ANOTHER new Verhalten cassette!

hot on the heels of last month’s release of Number, Verhalten returns with a brand new two track, 22min EP that will serve as the first in a series of releases called Corrupted Structures. Based on inconsistency and a sense of chaos as much as it is based on repetition and the build of inertia, Corrupted Structures v.1 crumbles and hisses all around us just like the people, movements and institutions we feed daily.

Shaan and Verhalten tapes now available!

It was june of 2016. Froe Char was playing a show in Belgrade, Serbia with the newly minted Unur alias, Verhalten. The opening act for the night starts. A young woman with a single sampler begins a kinetic and intriguing set. We have just witnessed Shaan. As the evening progresses everyone starts talking and as we have an extra couple days in Belgrade we make plans to hang out more, then to make some music together and as this friendship forms, so does an idea. “why don’t you do a tape for modern tapes?” Here is just that:

It is 2017. US political conversation is getting more frustrating and inane as the days go on. A balance between activism and nihilism is all we have to keep ourselves sane. We feel anonymous, we feel numb. In a fit of isolated incredulousness, VH decides to make something that feels immediate, something that feels more like a live set. Each track is constructed live on modular synth and contact microphones. We now have Number.

Hey good people of the internet, i made some shirts and stickers for us electronic music/modular nrrrds out there. they express a sentiment i adapted from Woody Guthrie’s guitar back in 1941 when he was singing protest songs against wealthy and racist americans not seeming to have any problem with what was happening in Germany/Europe at the time. Feel free to draw parallels without hyperbole, please.

The money made from selling said shirts and stickers are going to Life After Hate, an organization that provides an exit strategy for people who are involved in many of the white supremacist subcultures in the US, they are the only non-profit i could find who does this. good for them.

Verhalten- west coast us tour, new video and 12″ vinyl release of “Forgiveness”

On March 31 Verhalten returns with “Forgiveness” a collection of noise laced industrial tracks based around rhythm and slow melody. Well, underneath the membrane of static and feedback that is. This is the 12″ vinyl edition of the cassette ep released in early 2017 that is already out of print.

The release is accompanied by a short tour of the west coast from March 31-April 09 and the release of a video for the track “Pictures Drawn In Water”. A minimalist short film of natural white noise photographed while on tour in the Czech Republic, Germany and Iceland in February of 2017.

that’s right, ANOTHER new Verhalten tape. Interesting thing about it, this one will also exist on 12″ vinyl come April 2017. There are a limited number of tapes that will be available on the impending european tour and the vinyl will be here once more dates are announced in the US. Here’s a little insight as to how it differs from “oxter”.

mt021-vh_oxter-tape Further evolution into the deeper realms of noise, Verhalten returns with a claustrophobic din of modular cacophony. Harsh noise walls give way to an almost ambient conclusion. This is the first in what will be a series of Verhalten noise releases which will have the signifying code VHNW somewhere on the artwork. If you are wondering about the more beat driven work, don’t fret, there is more of that coming too, very soon. Until then, enjoy the crumble and clang of Oxter. VHNW000-005.
